State Bank of India (SBI) Central Recruitment & Promotion Department has released the official recruitment notification (Advertisement No: CRPD/SCO/2026-27/02) for the recruitment of Specialist Cadre Officer Law posts on a Regular Basis. A total of 49 vacancies are announced for Assistant Manager (Law) and Deputy Manager (Law). Age Limit and Qualifications (as of 31/05/2026)

  • Assistant Manager (Law) (Grade JMGS-I):
    • Age Limit: 25 to 32 Years (Candidates must be born between 01.06.1994 and 31.05.2001).
    • Basic Qualification: Graduate with a degree in Law (3-year or 5-year integrated LLB) from a recognized university in India.
    • Mandatory Experience: Minimum **02 years of experience** as a practicing advocate, scheduled commercial bank law officer, or combined, after enrolment with the Bar Council.
  • Deputy Manager (Law) (Grade MMGS-II):
    • Age Limit: 25 to 35 Years (Candidates must be born between 01.06.1991 and 31.05.2001).
    • Basic Qualification: Graduate with a degree in Law (3-year or 5-year integrated LLB) from a recognized university in India.
    • Mandatory Experience: Minimum **04 years of experience** as a practicing advocate, scheduled commercial bank law officer, or combined, after enrolment with the Bar Council.
  • Age Relaxation: Standard upper age limit relaxations apply (OBC NCL: 3 years, SC/ST: 5 years, PwBD UR/EWS: 10 years, PwBD OBC: 13 years, PwBD SC/ST: 15 years).

Pay Scale & Benefits

  • Assistant Manager (Law) (JMGS-I): Basic Pay: ₹48,480 - 2,000/7 - 62,480 - 2,340/2 - 67,160 - 2,680/7 - ₹85,920.
  • Deputy Manager (Law) (MMGS-II): Basic Pay: ₹64,820 - 2,340/1 - 67,160 - 2,680/10 - ₹93,960.
  • Allowances & Perks: Selected candidates are eligible for Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), Provident Fund (PF), NPS pension, Leave Fare Concession (LFC), Medical Facilities, and other bank perquisites as per rules.

Selection Process

The selection will be conducted through the following two phases:

  1. Online Written Examination (Tentatively August 2026):
    • Objective Test (50 Marks / 45 Minutes): Questions on Reasoning (25 marks) and English (35 marks) [Qualifying in nature] and Professional Knowledge (50 marks) [COUNTS for Merit]. No negative markings.
    • Descriptive Test (50 Marks / 45 Minutes): Answers to any 5 questions out of 8 questions on Professional Knowledge (10 marks each).
  2. Personal Interview (100 Marks): Adequate number of candidates scoring above the written cut-off will be called for interview.
  3. Final Merit List: Calculated by normalization of Written Test marks (70% weightage) and Interview marks (30% weightage).
