Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC/BPSSSC) has released the notification for the recruitment of Police Sub-Inspector (General Closed Cadre) under the Home Department (Special Branch), Government of Bihar. A total of 150 vacancies are available. Eligible candidates who fulfill the requirements can apply online from 09 July 2026 to 09 August 2026. - Nationality: Candidate must be a citizen of India. Both male and female candidates are eligible.
- Educational Qualification (as on 01/08/2025): Bachelor's Degree (Graduation) or its equivalent from a recognized university.

- General (UR) Male: 20 - 37 Years
- General (UR) Female / BC / EBC (Male & Female): 20 - 40 Years
- SC / ST (Male & Female): 20 - 42 Years
- Bihar Government Employees: 5 Years age relaxation (who completed 3 years of regular service).
- Ex-Servicemen: 3 Years + Service duration (Max age limit 57 Years).

Selection Process and Exam Pattern
The recruitment process for the BPSSSC Police Sub-Inspector (General Closed Cadre) consists of a Preliminary Written Exam, a Mains Written Exam, and Physical Standards checking.
- Preliminary Written Exam (Stage 1):
- Pattern: 100 objective-type multiple-choice questions for 200 marks.
- Duration: 2 Hours.
- Syllabus subjects: English, General Knowledge, Hindi Language, Reasoning, and Current Affairs.
- Marking scheme: +2 marks for each correct answer.
- Qualifying marks: Minimum 30% required. Candidates equal to 10 times the vacancy count will be shortlisted for the Main exam based on merit.
- Main Written Exam (Stage 2):
Shortlisted candidates will appear for two papers in the Main Exam:
- Paper I (Objective MCQ): 200 questions of 200 marks. Duration: 3 hours. Negative marking of 0.25 marks per incorrect answer.
- General Studies & Current Affairs: 50 Marks
- Mathematics & Quantitative Aptitude: 40 Marks
- Reasoning & Analytical Ability: 40 Marks
- English Language: 20 Marks
- Hindi Language: 20 Marks
- Bihar General Knowledge: 30 Marks
- Paper II (Subjective / Descriptive): 50 marks. Duration: 1 hour.
- Hindi Essay: 15 Marks
- English Essay: 15 Marks
- English Precis Writing: 10 Marks
- Translation (Hindi to English): 10 Marks
- Candidates must secure a minimum of 30% in both papers. Shortlisted candidates equal to 3 times the vacancy count will be selected for Physical checking.
- Paper I (Objective MCQ): 200 questions of 200 marks. Duration: 3 hours. Negative marking of 0.25 marks per incorrect answer.
- Physical Standard Verification (Stage 3):
Verification of height, chest expansion (for males), and weight (for females) as defined in the parameters. Physical standards are qualifying in nature with no marks, but failure leads to immediate disqualification.
